So sad to hear that Bob Weir has, as he would put it, checked-out. I’ve been a Deadhead since I first heard “Uncle John’s Band” when I was 14; Bob and the rest of the boys have brought immense adventure, insight and, above all, pleasure, in the many years since. About a decade ago, I realized that Bob’s last name rhymes with a ton of words, including: Beer, Bier, Cheer, Clear, Bier, Dear, Deer, Ear, Fear, Gear, Hear, Here, Jeer, Meer, Near, Peer, Pier, Queer, Rear, Schmear, Sere, Smear, Sneer, Spear, Sphere, Steer, Tear, Tier, Veer, We’re, Year, and, of course, Weir (maybe not a rhyme, but still).
I thought it would be cool to design images of Bob that played off his name. Unfortunately, I have zero artistic talent. I never did anything about it until last year when I told my daughters about this idea. One of them, Amelia, used Chap GPT to create a Bob Beer coffee mug and a Bob Fear t-shirt for my birthday. This Christmas I got more mugs, including Bob Schmear and Bob Sneer.
Anyway, it would be cool if one of the ways Heads honored Bob and his off-kilter sense of humor was by creating their own images.
